Project

Precise Welding of Complex Geometry Objects

Name
Robotic Welding Station
Industry
Beekeeping
Scope
The project included the comprehensive design and implementation of a robotic TIG welding station for the production of honey extractor cassettes and baskets, with a focus on process automation, operator ergonomics optimization, and integration of all elements into one cohesive system.

Challenge

The production of honey extractor cassettes and baskets required repeatability and high-quality welds while simultaneously increasing process efficiency. A solution was needed to enable precise welding of complex geometries with user-friendly operation and ergonomic access to components.

Technologies and Solutions

ABB robot Beckhoff PLC controller Fronius MagicWave 4000 welding source LMI profilometer Weiss TC220T rotary table Pull-out drawers improving loading ergonomics

Process and Execution

The project was carried out with the goal of fully automating the welding of honey extractor cassettes and baskets. The work began with the integration of the ABB robot with the welding source and Beckhoff control system. An LMI profilometer was then implemented to allow precise scanning and adjustment of the welding trajectory.

The pull-out drawers and rotary table were carefully designed and installed to maximize operator convenience and ensure comfortable access to components. All station elements underwent quality and functional testing to guarantee process stability and reliability during production.

Results

Increased efficiency and repeatability of the welding process

High quality and reliability of welds

Ergonomic and safe working conditions thanks to pull-out drawers

Flexible welding from all sides of the part using the rotary table

Reduction of errors and waste through dynamic adjustment of the robot’s path

Faster order fulfillment and improved delivery timeliness

Strengthening the client’s position as a leader in beekeeping equipment manufacturing
